Dr Catherine Auld
I am an endorsed Clinical Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. I predominantly work with older adolescent females (16 years and above) and adults.
Focus areas include:
Maternal mental health during the perinatal and postpartum periods
Adolescent and young adult mental health and wellbeing
Teens, parenting, and family dynamics
Anxiety disorders, persistent worry, perfectionism
Grief and loss
Navigating life transitions and changes
Relationship difficulties, managing conflict, and loneliness
Low mood, poor self-esteem, and mood fluctuations
Therapy approach:
I draw from evidence-based therapies (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy) to determine the most appropriate ongoing approach for your recovery. Central to all treatment approaches is my aim to foster a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship without pressure or judgement. Your quiet inner voice will be met with curiosity, compassion, and attention.
What will therapy look like?
Opening up to a psychologist can make some people feel vulnerable or nervous. Grounded in understanding, patience, and deep respect for all individuals, my priority is creating a safe place for you to begin to heal and reconnect with yourself.
Together, we will carefully unpack everything that is going on for you through a thorough clinical assessment. You may be required to complete one or two questionnaires regarding your mental health.
We will spend time identifying clear goals. I will check back in with you throughout therapy to see if we are meeting your goals.
We will explore patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving and identify ways to lessen your distress at a pace you are comfortable with.
I cannot wait to warmly welcome you to our calming and retreat-like space here in Richmond.
I completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science (with first class Honours) and a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) at The University of Queensland.
